Four Real Tournament Formats
These are the same formats used in over-the-board chess, with pairings, tiebreaks and brackets handled for you.
Swiss
Everyone plays every round, paired against someone on a similar score. Nobody is knocked out, so a slow start can still become a strong finish.
Round-robin
Play every other participant once — or twice, once with each colour. The fairest format there is, and every half point counts.
Knockout
Single elimination. Win and advance, lose and the run is over. Some brackets play two games per match, one with each colour.
Double elimination
Lose once and you drop into the losers bracket rather than out of the event. Two lives, and the long road back leads all the way to the final.
25 Ready-Made Tournaments
Every preset builds its field around your own rating, so the challenge is calibrated to you rather than to an average player. Pick one and it is ready to play.

Shark Hunt
A knockout with one monster seeded into the bracket. Survive your half, then slay it in the final.
