Gedeon Barcza was a Hungarian Grandmaster who won the Hungarian Chess Championship eight times and represented his country in seven Olympiads. The Barcza System, a King's Indian Attack setup, bears his name. His affinity for the Bird Opening was a hallmark of his creative approach to the game.
