IM Herman Steiner
Herman Steiner was an American chess player, organizer, and columnist who won the U.S. Chess Championship in 1948. An exemplar of the Romantic School, he carried forward the attacking tradition of Morphy, Pillsbury, and Marshall. Even more significant than his playing career were his tireless efforts promoting chess on the American West Coast.
