GM Lev Alburt
Soviet UnionLev Alburt is an American Grandmaster, author, and coach who was born in Russia and became a three-time Ukrainian Champion before defecting to the United States in 1979. After settling in America, he won the U.S. Championship three times, becoming one of the few players to hold national titles in two different countries. His devotion to the Alekhine Defence is a hallmark of his playing style.
