Harry Nelson Pillsbury
Harry Nelson Pillsbury was a brilliant American chess player who burst onto the world stage by winning the legendary Hastings 1895 tournament at just twenty-two years old. Despite defeating many of the era's strongest masters, his illness and premature death prevented him from ever challenging for the World Championship. He remains one of the great what-ifs of chess history.
