GM Vasily Smyslov
Vasily Smyslov, the seventh World Chess Champion from 1957 to 1958, was a Grandmaster whose harmonious positional play set a standard for natural coordination and elegant piece handling. An eight-time Candidate for the World Championship, he amassed a record 17 Chess Olympiad medals and 10 European Team Championship golds. His artistry at the board mirrored a lifelong passion for music.
