GM Lev Polugaevsky
Lev Polugaevsky was a Soviet Grandmaster and one of the strongest players in the world from the early 1960s through the late 1980s. A frequent World Championship contender, he earned his GM title in 1962 and became a distinguished author and opening theorist. His contributions to opening theory, particularly in the Najdorf Sicilian, remain influential to this day.
