Boris Gelfand is a Belarusian-Israeli grandmaster who has been among the world's elite players for over three decades. Born in the Soviet Union in 1968, he reached a peak rating of 2629 and has shown particular expertise in the Sicilian Defence, especially the Najdorf Variation.
